Andy Barker is a painter and was Howard Hodgkin’s assistant between 1995 – 2017.
His new limited edition print ‘Underneath the Singing Tree’ is based on a memory of looking out from Howard’s studio balcony in Mumbai.

“The ‘singing tree’ is the name I gave to a particular tree in Mumbai, which I would see on a daily basis and over a number of years. The tree was viewed, from above and at some distance, from Howard Hodgkin’s Mumbai studio balcony, where I was his assistant over many years. The tree was constantly shaking under the weight of a ‘murder’ of crows, cawing incessantly. The painting is my interpretation of what might lie under the tree. The collage elements are taken from my own personal photographic library. – Andy Barker

Giclée print signed and numbered by the artist, with hand-torn edges on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308gsm.
