Layla and Majnun

Layla and Majnun is a Mark Morris Dance Group production. Howard Hodgkin designed the costumes and decor. All of the musicians and dancers shared the stage space on platforms, in front of a backdrop of a reproduction of Hodgkin’s painting “Love and Death”. Morris describes it as “a visually, musically, and choreographically unified and self-contained concert piece. An enlightening tragedy.”
