Notes: A portrait of Julia Hodgkin and Mrs Errol Wall at Orto Chiuso, Venice. This is the second state of this painting; Conversation, 1962, was exhibited in ‘British Painting and Sculpture, Today and Yesterday’, Arthur Toot and Sons, London, as cat. no.15, 1962. No photographic record of this first version has been located, however. The painting won an Arts Council prize at the Belfast exhibition (‘The New Image’, Art Council Gallery) in 1964.
