De Pont Museum of Contemporary Art

Tilburg, the Netherlands
20th September 2010 - 16th January 2011

This exhibition focuses on Howard Hodgkin paintings of places and moments in time as subjective expressions of visual sensation. The exhibition spans ten years of the artist career and includes many paintings not previously seen by a broader public, including a powerful body of new work developing out of the stylefont-style: italic, Home On the Range series of 2008. Together, they highlight the physical as well as emotional charge of Hodgkin art through his use of scale, sensitivity to light and his ability to create painterly equivalents of depth and atmosphere.
