Notes: This is one of a series of four portraits of Mr and Mrs E.J. Power, commissioned by Power, see also Family Portrait PA101, Interior 9AG PA104 and Interior Grosvenor Square PA117. In the catalogue for the 1979 exhibition at the National Gallery, London, ‘The Artist’s Eye: an Exhibition Selected by Howard Hodgkin’, Hodgkin described this painting as follows: “An interior containing two sculptures by Westerman, a Brancusi, a Pollock, a panelled wooden ceiling, etc. as well as the owners; the wife slipping away to the right and the husband talking in green in the foreground”. The composition is the reverse of Interior 9AG PA104.
